Data Love from MENA: Activities for Open Data Day 2016 #ODD16

This year’s Open Data Day is on 5 March. To celebrate and continue using open data, we have joined forces with celebrated people from the region. And here are the ideas we are up to — join us and share the #datalove at #odd16!

#odd16 is coming - join us and tell MENA data stories :)

The 5-minute Data Pitch

The Access to Knowledge for Development Center (A2K4D) and the AUC Venture Lab are hosting a data pitch competition, “The 5-Minute Data Pitch”.

Share your idea of a mobile app that uses data for economic and human development. And get the chance to pitch your idea to an expert panel and the audience on the Global Open Data Day on Saturday, 5 March 2016 at AUC Tahrir Campus.

You only need five things:

  1. A developmental issue that your idea addresses. Examples include healthcare, education, literacy, unemployment,…

  2. A neat idea for a mobile app that uses data and contributes to solving this issue.

  3. Tell us who benefits from your idea.

  4. Tell us why your idea is important.

  5. Tell us how your approach is different

No business plans, no PowerPoints.

For more information contact the A2K4D team.

Apply now! Application closes on February 26, 2016 — and  may the best idea win!

Data Visualisation for Social Good

The idea is to use the Open Data Day to collect and release both data and visuals about topics that matter to people in the region. Tell us about your neighbourhood or favourite hashtag on Twitter! Data is everywhere around us — let’s gather it and tell MENA stories to the global community.
